Everyone shocked after hearing that Maharaja Shiv Chhatrapti signing agreement at Purandar with Mirza Raja Jai Singh. The whole Maratha Samrajya was in deep shock. The Reason for signing the agreement was , Attack on Shahista khan and Surat, enraged the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb. In response he sent Mirza Raja Jai Singh  with an army numbering around 150,000 to defeat Shivaji. Jai Singh's forces made significant gains and captured many Maratha forts, forcing Shivaji to come to terms with Aurangzeb rather than lose more forts and men.

In 1666,Aurangzeb invited the Shivaji and his 9 year old son Sambhaji to meet him at Agra fort. The reason for inviting the Maratha king was , Auranbgzeb wanted to send Shivaji to the Kandahar(now in Afghanistan) for securing Mughal empire's north-west area.

But in the court of Sultan, Aurangzeb commanded Shivaji to stand behind his Army Commanders. Disrespecting Shivaji was the big mistake Aurangzeb did. Shivaji took an offence and stormed out of court.

Aurangzeb ordered his commanders to house arrest the Shivaji. Shivaji was in house arrest for many time under the watch of Faulad Khan.

But as they say "you can not control lions.", Shivaji dramatically started behaving like he is very ill and near to death. He requested the authorities to allow him to send Sweets and Foods to the saints so that his soul can rest in peace.

Authority allowed Shivaji to send sweets. One day Shivaji decided to run away from Agra. Because Sambhaji was only 9 year old Shivaji told him to hide in big basket of sweet and faked  himself  labor carrying that Sweet box.

Shivaji Successfully escaped from the Agra fort. But the struggle was not over yet, Escaping the Agra fort was other thing. Now he have to escape from entire Mughal Samrajya to Maratha Samrajya.

He and his son faked their identity as Sadhus and escaped the Mughala Saltanan. Shivaji knew it will be very dangerous for his son to live in Marathwada, He send his son to the kashi with his trusted man and faked the death of Sambhaji.

The Rage of Shiva is still not cooled down he started attacking nearest forts and Reconquered the entire area loosed in battle with Mirza Raja Jai Singh. Not only this, He Broke the agreement with Mughal Saltanan and openly challenged Aurangzeb.

Shivaji had aquired many land and wealth during all these wars and his campaign. But still Shivaji didn't have any title.

In 1674 Many Maratha Kings and Zamindar agreed on making Shivaji raje king of Entire Maratha Samrajya. Shivaji was crowned king of the Marathas in a lavish ceremony at Raigad on 6 June 1674.

The Coronation ceremony was arranged in a way that Mughals get a Strong message that "Raje Aala!".

It was first time in many decades, A Coronation ceremony in Hindu way. One of a books on Shivaji describes the entire coronation ceremony like,

 " Pandit Gaga Bhatt officiated, holding a gold vessel filled with the seven sacred waters of the rivers Yamuna, Indus, Ganges, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri over Shivaji's head, and chanted the coronation mantras. After the ablution, Shivaji bowed before Jijabai and touched her feet.

Nearly fifty thousand people gathered at Raigad for the ceremonies. Shivaji was bestowed with the sacred thread jaanva, with the Vedas and was bathed in an abhisheka. Shivaji was entitled Shakakarta ("founder of an era")and Kshatriya Kulavantas ("head of Kshatriyas"),and Chhatrapati ("paramount sovereign"). He also took the title of "Haindava Dharmodhhaarak". "
